WELCOME TO MY PERSONAL PAGE

I am an Oceanologist of the XXIX Class (1990-1994) from the Autonomous University of Baja California, where I also did a master's degree in Coastal Oceanography (1996-1998). I have a  Ph.D. in Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2015-2017), which I undertook after working as a coastal engineering consultant in Denmark, Spain, and the United States, participating in projects around the world.  At the end of  In 2009, I joined the academic life within the Institute of Engineering at the Sisal Academic Unit of UNAM, where I am currently a professor and head of unit.

My passion for studying the sea and its beaches comes from when I was little when I was alone hours snorkeling and feeling the sea and its waves, and as a teenager when I spent hours waiting for waves, even before going to school.  I decided to study Oceanology to be close to the sea and its waves. During my university years, I always wanted to work solving problems, which is why I leaned towards coastal engineering, which I have practiced for a large part of my professional life. I am currently interested in the study of waves, extreme events such as hurricanes and cold fronts, ocean currents and dispersion, as well as coastal erosion and the functional design of maritime structures. My approach when studying the sea is to generate applied knowledge to  solve problems and meet the challenges of development on the coasts and seas.
